1. Round Robin games will be 2 periods of 10 minutes with no time stoppage.
  2. If the schedule permits, Playoff games will be extended to 2 periods of 12 minutes with no time stoppage.
  3. Last 2 minutes of Playoff games will be stop time unless the mercy rule is in effect.
  4. Each team may have 4 players plus a goalie on the playing surface.
  5. Games may be started or completed with only 3 players including the goalie, but not with 2 players (result is an automatic forfeit).
  6. Time will stop only for switching sides, injuries, and intentionally sending the ball out of the playing area.
  7. The following mercy rule will be applied: 7 goal differential.
  8. Each team will be allowed one (1), 30-second timeout per game. Your team must have possession of the ball in order to call a timeout
  9. Substitutions will be made on the fly while the play is onside.
  10. When the ball is covered by the goaltender, the defending team gets possession of the ball behind their net. The other team must then give the team with the ball 10 feet of space to make a play. The team with possession is allowed 5 seconds to put the ball in play.
  11. After a goal is scored, the team that was scored on gets possession and may execute play immediately. They also must execute play (i.e. cross the center line) within 10 seconds. If they fail to do so, the other team may encroach aggressively.
  12. If the ball leaves play at either side of the rink the team that the ball did not go off of receives possession at the spot where the ball left play. The referee will determine which team should have possession. That team is given 10 feet of space and 5 seconds of time to make a play.
  13. Minor penalties such as swearing, slashing, hooking, tripping, crosschecking, high sticking, delay of game, unsportsmanlike conduct or inappropriate stick work will result in a two minute penalty (except during the last two minutes of a game, see rule 14 below).
    More serious offenses, including, but not limited to scuffles, punching and fighting, will result in ejections or teams being disqualified, at the discretion of the tournament organizers.
  14. Penalties in the last two minutes of a game will result in a penalty shot awarded to the other team. Penalty shots are taken immediately after an infraction, and are taken with the ball being placed at center ice according to breakaway type format.
  15. Making contact with a player or the ball using a stick above the crossbar is considered a high sticking penalty.
  16. Teams will switch sides at the start of each period at the discretion of both teams coaches.
  17. HELMETS WITH CAGE/SHIELD AND GLOVES ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL
    PLAYERS and shin pads are recommended
  18. Playoff ranking will be determined on round robin performance in the following order:
    a) Points %
    b) Head to Head points % (between tied teams from a, if applicable)
    c) Goals differential (GF – GA)
    e) Draw (Team rep must arrive within 5 minutes)
  19. In the playoffs, should a game be tied after regulation, there will be a 5 minute overtime (running time) 3 v 3. If the game is still tied, each team will select 3 players to participate in a shootout. Should it still be tied, new players (not the first 3) will take sudden death penalty shots until a winner is determined. A player can not shoot again until all players
    on roster have taken a shot.
  20. Games will be paused under conditions of heavy rain or lightning. Light to moderate rain will not result in a pause.
  21. Proof of age may be requested. All players must be Muslim and on the roster with a completed waiver. A younger player may play in an older division as long as they have registered and paid fees in each division. Roster violations may be penalized with a suspension and or fine at the tournament organizers discretion

    Div C: 2011-2012
    Div D: 2013-2014
    Div E: 2015-2016
    Div F: 2017 and under
    Girls:
    Div B: 2010-2012
    Div C: 2013-2015
    Div D: 2016-2018
  22. The schedule is subject to change based on the situation and teams may be required to be ready to play up to 30 minutes in advance of their scheduled game time
  23. As Saleh Uncle Memorial Cup is a Muslim tournament, all players, coaches, fans and volunteers are expected to be mindful of appropriate Islamic clothing and behaviour. We encourage everyone to observe prayer breaks and pray for the deceased in our families
    and communities. Islamic nasheeds sung as a cappella or with instruments are permitted. All other music is not permitted.
